One of my recent projects – tea cup chandelier... / Üks minu töödest - serviisist lühter…

..which I made at the end of last year for a new restaurant in Kalamaja. It is situated in Soo street and they have a very mysterious name – Diip.

Looks like the restaurant took off really well. Diip seems to be so popular that on our spontaneous “lets-go-out-and-have-dinner” trips this place is always packed.

So, if you are not as spontaneous as we are and you don't want to stay hungry then I recommend you to book a table beforehand and you can easily enjoy your dinner in Diip.

Now, about the chandelier –
Client’s wish was very specific. She sent a sample image, bought a tea set and asked me to make a tea cup chandelier.

As with every other unique work, I warned the client that I have never done that type of a project before and we agreed that it is going to be a so-called pilot project - I promised to do my best, but I wasn’t going to be held responsible for the successful end result.

It was nice and peaceful to do this kind of project. My hands did not shake and none of the 22 holes I drilled into the porcelain (including 20mm at the bottom of the teapot) went wrong and none of them had any cracks.

 

We decided to use the small 25W G9 halogens, which were 3-4 times cheaper, more compact, and more accessible compared to LEDs, but after a while they can heat the chandelier and if touched it could burn your hand. Therefore, all tall clients of Diip, who go to order from the counter- better not touch it!

Wires are divided into groups 2 and 4 (ie, you can also use only 2 or 4 bulbs instead of 6), isolated with heat-shrinkable tube and hidden inside a teapot.

Anyway all went well, and as far as I know the chandelier has been working fine for several months now.

The reason why I would like to emphasize the importance of the Diip’s order is the fact that, thanks to the tea cup chandelier Ideede Garaaz woke up from a long nap and returned to work on the environmentally conscious goals.

Diip’s chandelier inspired me and gave me an impulse to start again with the projects that had been shelved so, with renewed impetus and good energy I can start developing them again. Thank you, Marek and Eveliis!

Üks minu töödest - serviisist lühter…

..mille ma tegin eelmise aasta lõpus Kalamaja uuele söögikohale, mis oli too aeg kohe-kohe oma uksi esmakordselt avamas. Selleks kohaks on Soo tänaval asuv sügava nimega restoran – Diip, mis tundub rahva seas sedavõrd populaarne, et oma spontaansetel söömaretkedel ei ole me kunagi ühtegi vaba lauda tabanud.

Lühtrist lähemalt -
Kliendi soov oli väga konkreetne. Ta saatis näidispildi, ostis ise serviisi ja palus lühtriks kokku ehitada.

Nagu ka iga teise unikaalse tööga ma hoiatasin, et pole seda kunagi varem teinud ja leppisin kliendiga kokku, et tegemist saab olema nn. pilootprojektiga - annan endast parima, kuid ei vastuta lõpptulemuse õnnestumise eest.

Sellist tellimust oli hea rahulik teha. Minu käed ei värisenud ja ükski 22st portselani puuritud august (sh. 20mm teekannu põhjas) ei läinud valesti ja ei jooksnud mõraks.

 

Pirnidena otsustasime kasutada väikeseid 25W G9 halogeene, mis olid sama tüüpi LEDidega võrreldes 3-4 korda odavamad, kompaktsemad, kättesaadavamad, kuid mis pikalt põledes kuumutasid serviisi ja võisid kõrvetada kätt. Seega, Diipi pikemakasvulised kliendid, kes te letist midagi tellite - parem ärge näppige!

Juhtmed on jaotatud gruppidesse 2 ja 4 (st. et kuigi Diipis põlevad lühtril kõik 6 pirni on võimalik kasutada ka ainult kahte või ainult nelja), isoleeritud kuumkahaneva kõriga ja peidetud teekannu sisse.

Kõik õnnestus hästi ja nagu ma aru saan põleb lühter probleemideta igapäevaselt juba mitmendat kuud.

See, miks ma soovin Diipi tellimuse tähtsust rõhutada on tõsiasi, et tänu serviisist lühtrile ärkas Ideede Garaaz oma pikalt kestnud uinakust ja asub taas tööle oma keskkonnateadlike eesmärkide nimel.

Diipi lühter inspireeris mind ja andis tõuke riiulis seisnud projektid uuesti käsile võtta ning uue hoo ja hea energiaga neid tasapisi arendama hakata. Aitäh, Marek ja Eveliis!
